What about February?
What a great idea! Some companies are pushing their big annual celebrations to the beginning of the year instead of competing for hot commodity resources during the holidays. With Hip Service raising the roof for a private event last week at legendary Bimbos 365 Club (check out Bimbo Alum Rita Hayworth -her classic, sultry legacy lives!) - we started thinking about the big benefits of picking the road less traveled. Date less chosen. Alternate month selection? Anyway, here are some perks we pondered:
Availability
All of a sudden the outstanding band that has been booked all December since 2009 is an option for your company party! The venue you dreamed of is open for your choice of dates. Caterers, florists, bartenders, transportation with wine tasting (YES!).. much, much easier to get what your heart desires all the way around.
Off Season Pricing
A lovely perk indeed. Since it's not absolute peak season - the going rates are sweeter. Collaborative packages are also plentiful. For example -bands and DJ's might work events together or bartending services and transportation companies team up to deliver safe and sane party practices. We know (and love) the off season pricing of lodging - combine that with block reservations and the savings are enough to make you sing.
Logistics
Traffic, events stacked one on top of the other, sold out hotels.. not a big party pleaser. All of these can impact your guest's enjoyment and your artist's and vendor's load in and load out times. A big celebration in laid back February verses high octane December? It's not for everybody but if it's an option - it can mean less logistical planning, more bang for your buck and your guests won't get stuck in traffic on the way home. That's a good party!
