Local brass legend, Bernie Torres is the gifted saxophonist for award winning dance band Hip Service, Latin influenced Suenos and Jazz band Symposium. Torres knew music would be an integral part of his life since Third Grade.
“My interest in music began when I was a child walking around the house blowing on an old bicycle horn. My father knew that I would be a musician so he put a trumpet in my hand when I was in the Third Grade”.
Torres played trumpet through High School and, in College, transitioned to saxophone and flute. Driven to master his new instruments, Torres remembers “Practicing sometimes nine hours a day for a year and driving my family crazy!” Torres maintains would not have had the courage to do what he is doing now without the support and encouragement of his family. “My brother-in-law heard me practicing one day and told me that I needed to get out of the practice room and start playing with a "real" band. He took me to a Latin bar called the Reno Club. There I was introduced to the leader of a Latin band. As it turns out, they were looking for a saxophone player”.
The band was impressed with Torres and quickly brought him on board. Torres played regularly with different Latin bands for about fifteen years. During that time, he composed, arranged and made well over one hundred recordings of original and cover music. Recognized for his talent, showmanship and dedication, Torres signed a recording contract with an RCA affiliated record label and then lived out of a suitcase on tour.
“I eventually left Latin music to perform in R&B cover bands and various jazz groups including the locally based Jazz group Symposium who I still perform with, when I am not playing with Hip Service”.
A dedicated husband and father, Torres exemplifies an alternate path for professional musicians and artists. Life on the road is notoriously hard on both family and artist. Torres chose to develop his other talents, allowing him to stay home with his family. “I decided to go back to college and study telecommunications. After I received my degree, I worked for the State of California as a Telecommunications Analyst in Microwave Engineering and later Telecommunications Project Manager.” Torres’ love and dedication to his art maintained throughout. Exceptionally talented, Torres demonstrates his versatility in the range of music he studies, performs and enjoys.
Dedicated to his art, family and philanthropic pursuits Torres is a respected and inspiring member of the Northern California music community.

Then drinks, dinner and dancing all night without the worry of driving home. In the morning everyone heads over to Bistro for an excellent breakfast (homemade doughnuts..*wimper*) before taking a leisurely walk through Town Center's Sunday Farmer's Market. An all around awesome and deliciously satisfying break. Come Monday, you'll feel like you really had a weekend!
Hip Entertainment is a big fan of Bistro 33. Looking for your very own dance party? We'll hook you right up. Give us a call at (916) 354.9924 or email Nellie firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll get your party started.

Our favorite Thursday nights are back! Thank you Town Center and generous sponsors for delivering Live on the Boulevard, one of El Dorado Hill's most beloved summer long events. Kicking off the series is the popular Tom Petty tribute band Petty Theft, July 25th is the return of the excellent SuperHuey and the series closes with a special performance by Folsom Symphony. In between there will be some Folsom Prison Blues, Summer of Love favorites, Southern Rock and a lot more great dance music. A terrific opportunity to see some of the region's best bands with the whole family! Come at 5 and set your chair up then wander the boulevard, have dinner, get a great read.. music starts at 6pm.
Great Reads at Face in a Book
A trip to Town Center isn't complete without stopping by Face in a Book. Just celebrating their first full year in business this remarkable bookstore delivers a book lover's paradise. Store owner, Tina Ferguson, successfully translates her deep love of reading into a delicious, multi layered, literary experience. Community members love Face in a Book's author events, interesting and enlightening book selections, book clubs and unique, lovely gift items. Home to probably the best selection of young adult titles we've ever seen, Face in the Book has also become the favorite destination for teen and young adult readers. Could there be better news? Face in a Book has struck the right note and is universally appreciated by El Dorado Hills residents young and old. Stop by before a concert or at intermission and take a look at some of Tina and team's featured titles. Inspiring and fun.
Special thanks to generous Live on the Boulevard sponsors. Without you, we wouldn't have these wonderful summer memories. Palladio Rocks on Wednesdays!
There is no nicer way to spend a Wednesday than out at the Palladio Summer Concert Series. Awesome live music, great food and excellent shopping for everyone. Thank you to Palladio and Mercy Hospital for bringing back this happy summer tradition! Once again, the concert line up is filled with top notch, high energy, regional favorites. The series opens June 5th with The Cheeseballs party band. On July 31th, award winning Hip Service is back by popular demand and brings their excellent show to the series. Aug 28 is the final concert with Lovefool performing dance hits of the 90's. In between, there is everything from Santana to Beatles to Aretha to Skynard to DEVO. A perfect opportunity for the kids to be inspired by excellent musicians and great songs.
Palladio has secured its spot as one of Folsom's best destination shopping experiences. Anchored by big, gorgeous "must haves" like Whole Foods and Sports Authority - locals visit Palladio regularly for essentials and again for date nights and family time. The Palladio Theaters are a favorite with both adults and kids. Everyone loves the "do it yourself popcorn bar" and the reservable DBOX experience seats are a huge hit for birthday parties and special dates. Parents particularly love the convienence, ample parking and safety. Says one Mom " I love Palladio. We don't have a ton of family outing time and I want it to be relaxed fun. I can't do that when we're stressed about parking, dinner and being late to the movie. Palladio is just awesome."
Kwirk is Cool
A super hip addition to Palladio is Kwirkworld. A funky clothing and gift store that carries the hottest trends in kitchy kwirk. How about a high end Hello Kitty leopard patent leather purse? Sound kind of fancy for your Third Grader? Well, maybe your sister loved Hello Kitty all through Middle School.. now we're talking! Kwirkworld has fanciful, hilarous, new and nostalgic for just about anyone on your list. A "must go" for Mother's Day, Father's Day and the spate of Graduations right around the corner. We still regret letting that awesome Adventureland Avengers T-Shirt slip through our fingers. Don't let it happen to you!
Yay for Panera at Palladio! Spectacular baked items and great coffee drinks are just the beginning. Panera sandwiches and salads are delicious and there are plenty of tasty and healthy choices so the whole family is happy. Fuji Apple Chicken is one of our office favorites but we also love the sandwiches on fresh baked bread. Thinking about eating al fresco at the concert? Panera is a great choice for dinner to go.
Can't Wait for Wednesday
Wednesday nights really are family fun nights at Palladio. Come early for dinner at any of the great restaurants and then relax and dance to some of the best music in the region. Even your teenagers will want to come. We're all looking forward to another summer of making great memories.

The Valley has embraced Sammy's Rockin' Island Bar and Grill as its rock music mecca. Nothing brings that home better than Sacramento's native son, Tesla's Frank Hannon performing a special show on Sat, Oct 27th. It's lead guitar heaven and the perfect Halloween weekend party spot. Lucky show goers can hope to hear songs from Hannon's recently released and highly acclaimed album Six String Soldiers. Hardrock Haven says:
Built on the bedrock of contagious riffs, tight grooves, and raunchy guitar leads, Frank Hannon’s new solo record upholds the all familiar hard rock truisms with commendable conviction.
Tickets are sold only at Sammy's and only at the door. Hannon is an amazing performer, legendary musician and loves his hometown. This is one to remember!

As a restaurant, bar and killer music venue, Sammy's Rockin' Island Bar and Grill is bringing the heat to Roseville. Featuring delicious drinks and a menu that can go from "family friendly" to "date night" to party like a.. well, it is Hagar's after all.
American cuisine with an Aloha twist - Sammy's food is fresh, delicious and has a nice, spicy spin on classic fare. The raw Crudo Bar is a customer favorite as well as the Late Night Pupus Menu that serves up Red Rockin' Haleakala Fire Island Wings (carmelized with Beach Bar Rum) served with your choice of signature dipping sauces. If you've ever been out late (listening to amazing music) you know how great it is to have really good food available after 10. No more stopping at heat lamped fast food on the way home. Thank you!
Rock star venue that it is, it makes sense that the mixed drinks are huge at Sammy's. Delicious "wabo-rita's" Sammy's version of a margharita made with Hagar's top shelf Cabo Wabo Tequila Blanco are a bar favorite. More recently, Hagar partnered with a Maui distillery and is producing his exclusive, delicious Beach Bar Rum. "Sammy's Maui Rocker" is a customer favorite but Hagar himself? He drinks it “Three ounces of rum, one ice cube (yes, that’s just one rock) and a drop of a citrus, whether it’s lime, lemon or orange..for an added kick, try adding a quarter grind of pepper.” The Roseville location has "The Rumerator" in their loft. What the heck is a Rumerator? Ha! Go on, head on up there and see.
Thanks to Angie Cardena Photography for the great photo.
Sammy's is representing with the best rock music Northern California has to offer every Thurs, Friday and Saturday night. Their opening night concert with Sammy Hagar was sold out and special concerts with headliners like the remarkable Frank Hannon are lining up. Check out the live music schedule.. great bands from all over are itching to perform at this already happening restaurant and club. Thanks Sammy!

Hip, Hotel Del Coronado Beach Concert
Remember that fabulous full moon last month? It was a party on the beach kind of night. Lucky us, we got to help throw a big rock star (really) of a beach dance party at the fabulous Del Coronado Hotel in San Diego. Our fantastic clients envisioned a world class beach concert and we loved making it happen.
In the midst of set up
Months of planning, a crew of 20, and 300 sheets of plywood..
Our production manager worked (happily in gorgeous San Diego weather) with sound, lighting, stage, decor, security and band management, and by sound check there was a concert stage fit for rock stars. Absolutely appropriate because The World Classic Rockers were set to give their trademark amazing show. Biggest hurdle? The Del Coronado had never had such a large event on the beach. One little trick: We layed (a lot of) plywood on the sand to roll equipment out to the area for the stage.
The World Classic Rockers Delivered an Amazing Show
Our excellent clients loved The World Classic Rockers the last blow out party they had and knew they wanted them again in this idyllic location. The World Classic Rockers are the penultimate all star band. Their set lists are your favorite songs performed by the original artists. WCR members are from super groups: Santana, Steppenwolf, Journey, Lynyrd Skynrd and Boston. And they bring it. Masters of live performance, musically and vocally on point, WCR members play on each other's talents and deliver a once in a lifetime experience for the audience. It was an unbelievable feel good performance and party goers were on the dance floor and joyfully singing along. Even on the flight home the next day attendees were buoyed and energized. The combination of the celebration as gracious and generous gesture, the glorious setting and partying with bona fide rock stars has left a lasting, delicious impression on all of us. What better outcome could there be?
Ready to rock with WCR? Looking to throw the party of a lifetime? Maybe a big "thank you" beach party for clients and team? Give us a call and we'll move heaven, earth and a boat load of equipment anywhere you want it. 916.354.9924 or email email@example.com
